โ€˜Iโ€™m like a bicycle without brake pads now. Iโ€™m careering down the hill and Iโ€™m putting on the brakes and nothingโ€™s happening. The older you get, the more shrill and anxious you become. You become more fearful about everything.โ€™

Phil Fisk - Salt Thinking / healthcare

First glimpse of a stunning new commission captured by PHIL FISK for SALT THINKING for a worldwide campaign for a blood cancer treatment.  Shot over 2 days with 3 models, we created a contemporary, positive visual language for the product launch.  Colour and gradations all caught in camera to ensure perfect synch with the moving image sequences.

We are really proud of this beautiful body of work ๐Ÿ™Œ.

Huge thanks to ALL our wonderful team including stylist Vic Twyman, DOP / editor Adrian Wolfson and Ela Calin for her awesome retouching.

And also to Perma Collective for another fabulous, low impact production. (They also helped us to visualise the emissions generated by the shoot, which worked out at just 6% of the industry average.)

Phil Fisk - Observer / Neneh Cherry

Phil Fisk shot these gorgeous portraits of "celebrated musician and all-round creative powerhouse" Neneh Cherry for Observer, describing her as "a whirlwind of energy and good vibes that infected the whole studio". Phil is "still reeling from the hugs"!

Neneh's memoir โ€œA Thousand Threadsโ€ is out now.

Huge thanks to Observer for the commission and fabulous styling - and to hair and makeup artists Shamara Roper and Hila Karmand ๐Ÿ’ซ

Phil Fisk - Observer / Ibrahim Nash'at

"The secret service asked to see my footage. I left the same day"...

The Observer commissioned Phil Fisk to capture these compelling portraits of documentary-maker Ibrahim Nash'at, who was embedded with the Taliban after US forces fled Kabul in 2021, whilst creating his fly-on-the-wall documentary, Hollywoodgate.

Described as โ€œa darkly comic, damning insight into the regime", this astonishing documentary has been a hit at film festivals - featuring scenes of the Taliban exploring some of the โ€œ$7bn worth of equipment left behind in Afghanistan when the US made its hasty departure โ€ฆ everything from tactical fighter jets and M16 rifles, to a fully equipped gym and a fridge loaded with Jรคgermeister and Johnnie Walker Red Label.โ€

As always, Phil captures thoughtful and beautifully poignant portraits of his sitter.

In the words of Ibrahim, "The power of the camera Iโ€™m holding is as strong as the weapon they hold in their hands, maybe even much stronger."

Whilst chef/author/activist/TV presenter Ravneet Gill "rates offbeat crisp flavours, from haggis to oyster and vinegar"... ๐Ÿฆช. โ

Chris Floyd - You / Katie Price

Chris Floyd shoots these striking portraits of media personality, model and author, Katie Price for You.

Chris Floyd - Idler / Richard Hawley

CHRIS FLOYD shot these fabulous portraits of singer/songwriter and guitarist RICHARD HAWLEY for the new issue of THE IDLER.

โ€œ28 years ago I did a series of single sleeves for a band called Longpigs. They were art directed by Pat & Jo Skinny, and the band left the three of us alone to do what we liked. It was the perfect creative partnership. In March of this year I went up to Sheffield for the day to photograph that bandโ€™s guitarist, Richard Hawley, who I had not seen since a night in Paris in 1996. We did some pictures at The Samuel Worth Chapel in the Sheffield General Cemetery. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon in the pub listening to Richardโ€™s amazing stories of his life in music. It was the perfect way to spend a day.โ€

Chris Floyd - Sir Keir Starmer / You

Desperately seeking the real KEIR STARMER, down at his local pub!

CHRIS FLOYD shoots SIR KEIR STARMER for YOU Magazine. Such great images - huge thanks to Ester Malloy for the commission ๐Ÿ™Œ

Scroll down for more ๐Ÿ‘‡

In Chrisโ€™s wordsโ€ฆ

โ€œThis is the second time Iโ€™ve photographed Sir Keir Starmer. Last month I was commissioned by You Magazine to spend a couple of hours with him in the lead up to the final Arsenal game of the season, against Everton, played at their home stadium, The Emirates, in London. The night before the game, I was given the details of the pub where he likes to meet his football pals, and told to arrive there at 2.15pm. The game was due to kick off at 4pm. This meant Iโ€™d have about 90 minutes to shoot my pictures: Sir Keir in the pub, doing what football fans do in pubs before football matches: drink beer and talk incessantly about the fact that Arsenal really need a decent centre forward.

I arrive and weโ€™re introduced, he remembers me from the book cover shoot, and Iโ€™m invited to sit at the big pub table among the group, and snap away. I introduce myself to everyone at the table and explain why Iโ€™m here and that if any of them donโ€™t want to be seen in the pictures then they should just say and I will respect that wish. One of his friends, a fellow barrister, says that heโ€™s more than happy to be seen with him, adding, โ€œI adore him.โ€

Pints are drunk. The conversation is relentless, exclusively about football.

At 3.15pm we set off for the 20 min walk to the stadium, Sir Keir with his son, and about ten other people who he meets up with before the game. At first the walk was quiet, small groups of other fans here and there, unrecognised, anonymous. But then we emerged from the labyrinth of back streets onto Hornsey Road and, as always with a football crowd, you start to get the feeling that youโ€™re one of millions of bees coalescing around the hive.

Iโ€™m walking backwards, trying to shoot pictures of Sir Keir with his two friends, Chris and Macca, relying entirely on their goodwill to tell me if Iโ€™m going to step in front of a bus, or under a lorry. I make the comment, โ€œThis is where I get to say the immortal Ginger Rogers line, โ€˜I did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in heels,โ€™โ€ and it gets the laugh from the three of them that I need to make a picture fit for a magazine opening spread.โ€

Sir Keir Starmer, 19 May 2024

Phil Fisk - HSBC / HNIV

HEY HUMAN commission PHIL FISK to shoot this beautiful campaign for HNIV, the investment arm of HSBC.

โ€œThe shoot was a heady three days with over 30 models. Starting at Shoreditch Studios we shot a mix of black and white portraiture whilst utilising the other studio textures for portraits that could feel more real. The agency wanted a bright feel throughout to incorporate the HNIV overlay and though this was easily achieved in the studio it would be harder work in the location spaces.โ€

โ€œStyling and props were all overseen by VIC TWYMAN and her team who somehow pulled it all together in a short space of time and with a decent recce we were able to light and redesign the empty offices into multiple scenarios so quick it was like a dream. Big thank you to Peyo Alvarez and Emma Pottinger for sweat, blood but thankfully no tears!โ€
